You want to live pain free. You want to enjoy life the way you did before becoming dependent on others. We understand this, and are committed to helping you regain the independence you once enjoyed.

Better Yourself Rehabilitation focuses primarily on fall prevention. This includes the treatment of balance dysfunction and any musculoskeletal deficiencies, environment/ergonomic changes, and the integration of assistive and adaptive devices. In addition to fall prevention, we also treat a variety of mobility impairments, joint pains and postural abnormalities as well as assist in the management of:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiac Diseases
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Gout

Occupational therapists and physical therapists both do vital hands-on
rehabilitative work to help patients with injuries or disabilities
that limit how they're able to move and function in daily life.

Both PTs and OTs work primarily to get patients back in motion by
using different strengthening and balance exercises, manual
techniques, and function-specific training. They may introduce
different adaptive equipment when necessary and will even modify the
environment if needed. Where there is a lot of overlap between the
two disciplines there are also significant differences. PTs generally
focus on more gross motor movements like walking, squatting, and stair
climbing whereas OTs will train patients in Activities of Daily Living
and fine motor movements like brushing your teeth, combing your hair,
and buttoning your shirt. Both disciplines are focused on the
prevention and treatment of pain but PTs work more to treat the injury
while OTs may focus more on the ability to complete the task at hand.
Balance and Fall Prevention are a major concern of each but PTs work
to improve balance in itself or as part of a gross motor movement
while OTs usually incorporate balance training into a daily functional
task like getting dressed.

The best way to find out if you can benefit from PT and/or OT is to give
us a call. Our staff is always happy to answer any questions you have.
